GLAM Hack designed and implemented the workshop: What-the-hack?!, in the context of the Conference: Tradition anew! Documenting cultural heritage and artistic creation -interdisciplinary approaches, contemporary media*.

In the context of the workshop, participants became acquainted with: (a) digital archives and repositories of cultural heritage (e.g. Europeana, OpenGLAM, SearchCultutre), (b) Creative Commons licenses, and (c) good practices of creative reuses of digital cultural heritage.

In addition, with the use of online image processing programmes and tools, they created their own derivative artworks.

* The Conference was organised by the Biennale of Western Balkans along with the working group “Cultural Heritage and Contemporary Media” of the History of Art Laboratory of the School of Fine Arts in the University of Ioannina, in light of the International Museum Day and this year’s subject, which was chosen by the International Council of Museums – ICOM, ‘Museums as cultural hubs: the future of tradition’.
